I was waiting for a weekend this spring where it was bad in Utah and nice in Arizona so I could go down and visit Petrified Forest National Park. Petrified Forest is the closest national park I hadn't been to (a mere one state away) and so was the lowest hanging fruit, so to speak. Along the way was an obvious bonus attraction, Canyon de Chelly, so I decided to stop and check it out. It's a really pretty, dramatic canyon right in the middle of the Navajo Nation. I drove around to some of the overlooks, hiked down to the White House ruins, and got some aerial footage of the really cool Spider Rock monolith.
