Haleakala National Park

I'd been to one of Hawaii's volcanic-themed national parks, namely Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, on the big island. But there was another, lesser-known park on Maui called Haleakala. It took me a long time to remember how to pronounce the name. :) I visited the crater summit area, which is a drive from sea level to 10,000 feet. It was like Mars, with barren volcanic terrain and several large observatories (similar to Mauna Kea). I also visited the Ohe'o Gulch area where some amazing waterfalls and the Seven Sacred Pools are located. Haleaka is NP number 50 of 59. :)
