Grand Canyon National Park - Rim to Rim

My brother Tim had this great idea to apply for the Phantom Ranch lodging lottery and do a rim-to-rim through hike in the Grand Canyon. I submitted and drew out for dorm lodging (like a year in advance!) and then Tim decided he didn't want to go after all. Doh! Luckily my bro-in-law Jon stepped up (his first time) and my dad shuttled and the trip was salvaged. We timed it perfectly temperature-wise, and found that doing it over two days is MUCH nicer than the brutal one-day version. Staying at Phantom was pretty cool, too, despite the less-the-optimal 5 bunk bed dorms they crammed us in. :)
